Is Gary Young a Doctor?

Gary Young is called a doctor and claims to be an expert on essential oils, but his highest legitimate level of education is high school.

The requirements for becoming a doctor in the U.S. are as follows: “In general, doctors complete a 4-year undergraduate degree program, spend four years in medical school and then complete 3-7 years of residency training, before they are eligible for medical licensing.”  There is no evidence that Gary Young completed any of these requirements; based on all information available, he did not earn a bachelor’s degree and did not attend medical school.

What training does Gary Young actually have?  He says in his biography that he “went […] to school and took many course studies related to health and the human body. Later he enrolled in the university and received his degrees in naturopathy and nutrition.”

However, the “school” that gave Gary Young these “degrees” is Bernadean.  Bernadean is a mail-order diploma mill that has never had degree-granting authority from the California Department of Education, as required by law.  Bernadean is not recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.  More information about Bernadean and its history can be found here.

Gary Young has also claimed that he graduated from the American Institute of Phystoregenerology.  The founder/operator of the school denied this claim, after which Gary Young admitted that he did not graduate from the school.
